International Academy for Suicide Research (IASR) Activities during the European Symposium on Suicide and Suicidal Behaviour
Breakfast with the Experts
The IASR invites junior investigators to join its exclusive Meet the Expert Breakfast. Tailored to the specific needs of the young suicidologists, the programme includes meet with senior researchers who are members of the International Academy of Suicide Research who will be participating at the ESSSB meeting. The meeting will provide an informal opportunity for junior researchers to pose questions about their own or about the investigator's research.
A Symposium on “Suicide and Diagnosis (DSM and ICD)“ and presentation of Morselli Medal is scheduled during the ESSSB. Professor David Shaffer, Professor Michael Phillips, Professor John Mann and Professor Keith Hawton will be presenting findings from their work during this parallel session. This event will be open to all registered participants and will give them IASR perspective into suicide research. It will be a valuable opportunity to network amongst peers and experienced suicidologists.
Andrej Marusic Award
The International Context of Suicidology decided to fund the establishment of three research prizes dedicated to Andrej Marusic, that will be awarded during the Congress. The awards are based on the contribution of the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP), the International Academy of Suicide Research (IASR) and the organizers of the 13th European Symposium on Suicide and Suicidal Behaviour (ESSSB).
The prizes will be awarded to the best scientific contributions to the Congress in the field of biology of suicide, suicide prevention and treatment of suicidal behaviour, by young researchers. Applicants should be under 40 years old, or have less then 5 years of experience in the field of suicidology, and should firstly submit their scientific contribution through the Congress website. Applicants should also submit by e-mail to the organising Committee (email@example.com) a letter of application stating their name, title, affiliation and why their work is important; a CV no longer then 4 pages and a 1500 word summary of their scientific contribution.
Deadline for applications is June 14th 2010.
The official Journal of IASR Archives of Suicide Research will allow space for the 3 best poster presented during the ESSSB. They will be selected during the Poster Sessions and they will be announced in the Closing Remarks Session.
